This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

J and batin made their way from decima to cura. they had to pass by mors desert on the way, and J decidedly quickened his pace as he proceeded through the area. they made small talk during their journey; the discussions were nothing personal, and things were relatively light-hearted throughout.
they reached cura by nightfall, which was quicker than J had expected. cura wasn't a place with much nightlife; the farmers had gone to sleep and it was all peace and quiet. only the lights of an inn filtered in from the distance.
lsjozKp8 <30 they're mistaken for a couple on their honeymoon >50 they're assaulted by a mob of tauros <20 it starts to hail <30 they trigger some sort of alarm
well it was almost all peace and quiet. a pair of brothers were straggling along the road to their farm, driving their herd of tauros in front of them. they were squabbling; the younger had wanted to retire home earlier, before dark fell, but the older had insisted on giving the tauros more time to graze. now they were nervous in the dark, jumping at shadows. cura had not yet been attacked by the scourge, but they knew it was a matter of time, and the promise of a champion's aid wouldn't save their lives should they be the first unfortunates that the wave of scourge broke upon.
the older brother sighted J and batin first. he elbowed his younger brother. "look at those couple of [derogatory slur censored because kohaku is pg-13]," he crowed. "probably came to visit the vinyard for a romantic getaway. just another pair of fruits for the orchard." his younger brother blanched.
"s-strangers," he squeaked. "at night! intruders! the scourge is upon us!" he fumbled with shaking hands for the horn hanging at his belt and blew upon it. the notes rang out loud and clear throughout cura.
people poured out of the inn. lights flickered on in the farmholds surrounding them. and the tauros, spooked, charged at J and batin.
the honeymoon seemed ruined.
Sd9njsdI < 50 trampled by tauros < 50 militia surrounds them < 30 starts to rain < 50 older brother is repressed homo, falls in love w/ j
J had yet to say anything. everything happened a little too quickly for him to process what had transpired; when the dust settled, all J saw was a horde of tauros and the entire fucking militia of cura. it was one pitchfork to about twenty men, but at the same time, it was a hundred tauros to one single man. also about ten chansey to a woman, he noted. it seemed that fate was keen to draw batin into its snares as it had brought thalia into it.
"batin," said J, slowly, "can you make scourge appear?" it was a stupid thing to do, but it was also their only chance against a horde of enraged villagers. cura village was unexpectedly threatening in the dark of night. those miltank and tauros didn't look so petting zoo anymore.
the tauros' eyes gleamed, and the vacation was evidently heading straight towards a potential Bad End. at the sound of a whistle, the tauros charged.
J grabbed batin by the hand and pulled him out of the way of horns and a single pitchfork.
nYpuEAJC <30 a blizzard starts <50 younger brother is flamboyant like wallace, crushes on batin <50 chansey kidnap them <50 a phone rings
"i can't make scourge do anything," batin said mock-innocently. nevertheless, he gave it his best shot.
wEQGiZ0G < 50 scourge appear
your best wasn't always good enough. it was something everyone had to learn eventually, even the grandiose self-appointed dark messiah figures.
maybe especially them.
"i'm sure they'll be reasonable about this?" batin offered, and that was when the chansey snatched them and began moving forward at an incredible pace. batin's phone started ringing--not that he could dig it out of his pocket in the whirling snowstorm while being borne away by chansey.
"i don't understand," batin said. "these kinds of things never happen to me. everything always goes right."
the dice gods laughed, but he appealed to their mercy once more.
batin drew the groudon sign batin used fissure on the chansey horde > 70 hits > 50 batin and j escape plummeting into the ground along with the chansey
batin rolled over in the snow, hand outflung toward the gaping hole the chansey had disappeared into. in the distance, there was the faint drumming of tauros hooves.
the dice gods were fair and just. iskander and J were two halves of a whole. one was blessed with luck to last a lifetime while another was cursed to suffer through bad rolls for all eternity.
J remained silent as batin attempted to make something happen. nothing occurred. J wondered if it was because of him that things were turning out the way it did. but then again, things always worked out in the end for him, so he was certain that both of them would come out of this alive.
"i don't know," J mumbled as the chansey carried them away, "at least you pulled off that fissure."
they fell to the ground. J was thrown a few feet away from the crevasse, and groaned as he picked himself up again. "maybe that's an important phone call," said J. "i'll try to handle the tauros."
the tauros came like a hurricane.
J drew his shield.
jw4|cuV1 <50 J succeeds in defending them
animal bone was no match for vibranium. J's shield staved off wave after wave of tauros, hopefully buying batin enough time to finish his phone call.
when the dust settled, all that remained on the horizon were several figures.
<50 it's the older brother <50 it's the younger brother <50 armed with shotguns, >50 armed with machetes, 50 armed w/ both <50 there are more tauros coming >50 the blizzard intensifies
"yes dear, i'll be home soon. no, i'm not doing anything. no, you don't need to come find me. nothing's wrong. i love you. yes, i'll pick up dinner on my way back."
he pocketed the phone and stared at the mound of frozen tauros corpses that surrounded them.
"do you think i could use one of those for a steak?"
the storm raged on. batin could barely make out the figure approaching them. it moved closer, shouting something, waving something in the air.
> 50 yelling threats > 50 yelling threats rooted in love to J > 50 tauros come upon them from behind > 50 fissure has weakened the earth and the tauros create a landslide
"probably?" J said, inspecting the carcasses. "they seem very sturdy." but they were no match for his anvil-powered shield.
the yelling made little sense to J through the howling winds of the blizzard. it was at this point in time that J wished he hadn't bothered listening. he picked up things that sounded inexplicably strange to him, and it didn't really sound like the shouter was out for his head, either.
suddenly, the ground shuddered and gave way.
pMbFeWFL <50 they both fall underground
instead of falling into the fissure, batin and J were currently standing in the way of an impending landslide. J had no idea what was coming through the snow.
"avalanche!" he could hear that word being yelled in the distance, but what hit them wasn't snow. J let out a surprised yell as the sheer force swept him away.
<40 separated from batin <30 they both encounter chansey <50 batin gets shot, >50 J gets shot
a metric ton of avalanche took batin in the back and swept him away from J. he tumbled, head over heels.
mI3P6|OD > 50 concussion > 50 broken bones
batin rolled to a halt on top of a drift of snow. ouch. he groaned and couldn't even find the strength to twitch pathetically. he heard a gunshot ring out in the distance.
> 50 he's ended up in the middle of the village > 50 the landslide took out half the village > 90 the landslide killed him < 30 the chansey find him < 30 the older brother finds him
when the metaphorical dust settled, J was buried in a lot of snow. he pushed himself out of it -- didn't get far, the avalanche had been crazy -- and by the time he managed to extract himself, he was exhausted. what he didn't expect to hear was the click of a gun followed by the ringing sound of a gunshot --
"this is so you can't run," came a sneer somewhere off to his side.
pain seared through J, and for a while, he was lost in a soundless scream. it was one thing to be subjected to whirlpools and various other things in life, but it was an entirely different thing to be shot twice.
J couldn't move, and just stared upwards at the sky. his breathing was short and shallow; things slid in and out of focus and he wasn't even sure what was going on.
<50 a chansey heals him <50 it's the older brother who shot him, >50 younger brother
meanwhile, a horde of tauros found batin.
<50 they want revenge from before >50 they kidnap him
batin pulled himself to his feet by gripping the closest tauros and kind of just flopping upward. it was a good thing no one was around to see.
"take me to j," he said. "the kid i was with before the landslide. we got separated. by the landslide."
fhh7bg9T > 50 batin rides the tauros to j
the tauros carried him obligingly, but seemed to have no earthly idea where j was. it trotted around in circles on the snow, delicately picking its way around one chimney that was sticking up through the drifts.
> 50 run into younger brother > 50 run into serrkan
as they rode past the same chimney for what batin swore was the fifth time, he saw a shadow switch inside of it. urging the tauros closer, he grabbed a fistful of hair and pulled the younger brother out of his hiding place.
"you people are insane," batin gritted out. "every single one of you. where's my friend?"
his concussion had made him a bit grumpy.
> 50 younger brother leads them to his older brother
the younger brother had no idea where anyone was either.
> 50 batin has a tauros impale him
batin was feeling merciful that day. he stuffed him back in the chimney.
J wasn't sure if he was hearing things, but as a chansey waddled up to him and pressed a heal pulse against his wounds, he felt his mind come back into consciousness. he could barely move; he laid on the freshly-fallen snow and watched his blood stain the snow.
A7dGiIc4 <50 the chansey kidnaps him
the nurse pokémon screamed a poképrofanity in the older brother's face, picked J up, and ran away with him in tow. it was going to protect this wounded child! it wasn't going to let any more harm come to him!
as quickly as its legs could carry it, the chansey toddled on. "chanchan~" it said happily. the snow was no obstacle for it at all!
<50 the chansey finds batin
the chansey carried J away and into the distance, far, far away from batin and into a mass of chansey.
<50 J is worshipped like a god
there, J was placed upon a platform and immediately worshipped by all the chansey present. somehow, a cult had formed around J.
batin's tauros finally appeared to grow bored of trotting around in circles, and started out on a straight path. perhaps it could hear something batin couldn't.
as their destination drew nearer and batin fixed his eyes on the swarming mass of shadows in the distance, he was starting to realize something might be a bit of an underestimate. the tauros paused at the edge of the mass of chansey and their new god.
lEPgc5vu < 50 chansey take action against batin
having just rescued their divine object from the hands of man, the chansey were quick to anger and loath to trust. they fell upon batin in a frenzy of devotion. the tauros was spared and sent on his way, but batin was carried up to the altar where j waited, a live human offering.
J was thankful for the pain. even if the chansey had healed him earlier, it was only useful to seal the wound. he was still sitting atop some sort of elevated platform with two bullets lodged within him. a slight sort of movement resulted in him feeling pain, he would rather have it than -- than whatever was happening right now.
for some reason, batin had been walking around with a tauros. and then he was not. J attempted to get a better view of what was happening down below. a group of four chansey, each holding one of batin's limbs, was carrying the man up to where he sat.
Wqnd3kRs <50 they bind batin with ropes
the chansey chattered and presented their tribute to their new god. the four from before had already worked on tying batin with ropes to prevent his movement, never mind his broken bones and concussion.
one of them, an older chansey and presumably one of the elders, approached J with its head lowered. it spoke in hushed whispers and respectful tones that J didn't understand at all.
the trainer glanced at batin and mouthed: "i don't know what to do."
the chansey looked at J expectantly.
J waved his hand with a regal air in hopes of dismissing the cult so that he could free batin. but then again ...
1-30 batin is bound to a stake 31-40 they hold a feast 41-70 J is whisked off to be clothed in royal attire 71-90 they start chanting and praying 91-100 batin is freed
as the chansey bound batin with ropes, jostling him about heedless of his injuries, pain lanced through him like chain lightning.
rNnNIHIS < 50 he pulls a neo and faints
although he had more than a foot and over a hundred pounds on her, batin managed to look remarkably similar to neo when he fainted.
meanwhile, the chansey fell to their knees--as much as chansey could fall to their knees--and began to chant an ancient hymn to j.
1 - 30 the chant recognizes him as the messiah 31 - 60 the chant is about how he will lead the chansey into a new age of dominion over cura 61 - 90 the chant is about the glorious feast he will partake in 91 - 100 they realize they've got the wrong guy
j was the divine! he was the heralded savior who would cleanse the chansey of their sins! only in his light and mercy would they find the mercy they desperately craved and did not deserve.
one by one, the chansey formed a line to approach j for his blessing.
he was attended to by a pair of chansey with darkness lurking behind their eyes. J was almost certain they were scourge pokémon, but alas, they were not. they were as pink as chansey were supposed to be -- they were only blinded by love and worship for their messiah. they instructed him to bless the chansey who approached him, or at least, that was what it sounded like.
putting on his best face, he tapped each chansey lightly on the forehead as they approached him. it felt like the best course of action now was to play along. batin had already passed out and the chansey set to work about him.

a chansey emerged with a handful of needles. still occupied with blessing a neverending amount of chansey, J could do nothing except watch on as the nurse pokémon proceeded to resurrect the fainted man.
J finally saw the end of the line of chansey.
