This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

the chansey resurrected batin through extensive needle-poking just in time for another round of praising j's divine strength and glory.
YLV_uxkd < 50 bonds have loosened enough for him to draw a sign
wow, those chansey had really dropped the ball in their haste to get blessed by j. their ill fortune, not his, batin supposed.
batin drew the ghost sign and slipped through the ropes. being incorporeal also gave him a distinct relief from the pain of his broken bones. which was welcome.
< 50 the chansey notice
they were far too involved in prostrating before their god. batin drifted like...a ghost behind j's throne.
"would you like to stay and inherit your kingdom?"
1-30 chansey beging preparing a feat 31-50 there is wine and drink and dancing 51-90 the chansey continue to sing hymns 91-100 the human siblings arrive with shotguns in hand
J supposed he was the only one who noticed that batin had disappeared from his bindings. all for the better, too. several chansey had burst into tears upon being blessed by J's (questionable) might and presence, which had drawn the attention of other chansey. no one was looking at J and his ghostly consort, and that was when the trainer chose to answer his companion.
"i'd like to, but --"
his eyes darted to the mouth of the cavern. two figures stood strong, and J could almost make out the silhouette of a shotgun being raised. a warning shot was fired. whether it was the older brother who did so or the younger one, J had no idea. all he knew was that he had already taken two bullets and shouldn't be taking more.
he rose from his platform-throne.

they continued to obsess about his fine posture and his strength. they thought that J standing up was all part of the plan and nothing more. the sound of gunfire they were used to hearing; cura was a small village, but it was a village that used guns to herd tauros.
the brothers inched closer to their prey.
"one of them shot me," J told batin, "the older one. if we can get the chansey to overpower them, that would be great."
J attempted to get the attention of the chansey by speaking their species's name.
<50 the chansey hear J
they were ready to obey their new lord.
"attack the intruders," said J, gesturing as violently as he could to the two figures in the distance. he soon sank back onto the platform in pain. the bullets were honestly giving him a good amount of grief.
with great zeal, the chansey fell upon the brothers like an implacable pink wave. it seemed religious fervor could make monsters out of the strangest stock.
W6MXQDex < 50 the chansey win
but despite their passion for their Lord and Savior J...C. His goddamn initials are JC how did I just notice this.
but despite their passion for their Lord and Savior JC, the chansey were still woefully outmatched. they were, after all, fighting men with guns. after a few moments, the dust cleared, and the two brothers had emerged the victors, a pile of bullet-ridden chansey corpses at their feet.
it seemed j's divine blessing had not saved their mortal bodies. one could at least hope their immortal souls had ascended.
the older brother hee-hawed and raised his shotgun.

cura had raised its chansey well. even if their original purpose was to care for the injured and sick as well as lend a hand at the farms, they were surprisingly viable warriors. but alas, they were no match for firearms -- one by one, they fell, and just as quickly as they had provided a defense for J and batin against the cura brothers, they found salvation and a new land in their wake.
all hope was not lost, however. a good number of them still remained. they washed over the bloody and battered corpses, and pulled them away from further harm. the older brother cocked his shotgun and the chansey quickened their pace, throwing themselves before J in defense.
it seemed to work. the older brother took aim, and swiftly moved the barrel to point at batin before squeezing the trigger. J's gaze moved to batin as soon as he realized that he wasn't hit, and hoped that he was still ghostly, and therefore able to avoid adding more injury to what he had already sustained.
"on them," J told the remaining chansey, "leave no survivors." his words withheld a tone of viciousness behind them. the great chansey massacre was unforgivable, even if J wasn't particularly attached to his followers and their religion.
>50 the chansey win beautifully against the brothers
batin was not in fact, still ghostly. he did however have a remaining sign that might help.
16_tcNnf < 50 draws it in time
alas, his luck was still off this thread. batin hadn't even twitched his to the styler when the bullet thudded into his shoulder.
"fuck," he said somewhat hazily. he stumbled backwards, looking like he might fall. fortunately (?), minerva was there, steadying him with one paw and looking distinctly unimpressed.
< You had fun, > she said, surveying the corpse-strewn battlefield. < And you didn't invite me. Hello Delta. It's been a while. >
"delta?" J glanced at the lucario, but didn't question her. "hello."
he surveyed the area before him. the triumphant chansey had broken into song and dance over the dead bodies of the brothers. they had won against these contraptions they called a shotgun! "chanseeeey~" they sang, hymn-like in tune, and waddled over to batin and J to present their victims like some sort of prize.
the two brothers were laid before J, and the chansey invited J to step upon them to claim his victory.
J wasn't as concerned with the chansey as he was with batin's state. "you don't look good," he noted, and had the chansey use heal pulse on the agent. the pink pokémon obeyed.

J was carrying two bullets in him while batin was carrying one. they weren't going to succeed any metal detector checks anytime soon. remembering this fact, J suggested to batin:
"you're welcome. we might need a proper doctor to remove these bullets."
the chansey sang a beautiful hymn that praised the might of J and His holy messenger, batin. minerva went completely unnoticed by the remaining fifteen or so chansey. the lucario was of little to no importance to them.

the chansey continued singing praises. they were still cult followers at heart, J supposed. he wondered if he could excuse himself, batin and minerva and promise to return at a later date.
"uh ... we'll be back, okay?"
<50 okay
the chansey nodded and pushed into J's hands a fruit basket, batin's hands a whole leg of ham, and minerva's hands a roast tauros before seeing them out the cave.
1-50 they're a short distance away from cura 51-70 they're still in cura 71-100 toto, i've a feeling we're not in kansas anymore
J stared.
"... batin, i've a feeling we're not in cura anymore."
batin shoved his leg of ham into minerva's willing paws. no way he was carrying that around when he still had a hunk of metal floating somewhere in his bloodstream. (batin's grasp of anatomy and how guns worked was tenuous at best.)

somehow, between the avalanche, the worship & praise, and the second pitched battle against the brothers, j and batin had ended up just outside of ceres forest.
"oh fuck no," batin said. "nothing good ever happens to me in this forest." he frowned, and then seemed to remember something.
"you're pretty chill with a scourge lucario for an EOS trainer," he stated to J.
< that's because minerva is a good girl, > minerva chimed in.
J gently placed his fruit basket into the lucario's arms as well. he didn't really care for carrying something around, either. he stared out at the forest, and sighed inaudibly. the underground caves extended to this forest, it seemed.
(that was probably how the scourge got to ceres. from cura, they went all the way ... and got here. wow.)
"what happened last time?" J asked. it seemed that batin was perhaps involved in many other adventures. he wondered if he would understand the crazy he had witnessed and lived through in the past.
"... i'm not really eos now, so i can't say that i'm concerned," said J, glancing at minerva. "she seems familiar. like i've seen her as a child."
he had, in fact, met athena a fair few times in the past as a riolu.
J watched batin encounter success and decided to try the same for himself. no harm, right? "uh, if you don't mind, i'd like to try the same."

mysteriously, J managed to remove the bullet in his leg as well as the one lodged in his back without too much hassle. there were still open wounds on his body, but at least the stray piece of metal was gone.
"ugh," he groaned, before hoping that minerva chipped in with a heal pulse of her own.
minerva had been offended that j wasn't properly intimidated by her--or even remotely bothered. but batin glared at her and she extended to j a grudging heal pulse.
J was still suffering on the ground until minerva pressed warm paws to his wounds and healed them. "thanks," he managed to grunt out, before attempting to stand.
