This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

"delta," batin sad. it was kind of true, if you bounced the statement around a few times. j was basically his twin, so it was like thinking about one if you thought about the other. "wondering what he's doing. he doesn't go out much. i worry."
"i do! i always have fun when we get out of his house. i hope he does as well. we certainly don't do anything in halves. rather like adventuring with you, but uh, things usually go better for us."
J glanced away, feeling guilty. things usually went horribad for him whenever he went on an adventure. his countless threads spent with thalia flashed before his eyes and he flinched from reliving the experience, and actually jerked away from batin upon remembering the fake moltres.
he soon returned to employing the agent as a crutch, though.
"i hope they do turn out better for you," said J, "the cult was a new high for me too."
batin wondered briefly if he had offended the other man when j jerked away from him, but he returned momentarily, and he put it out of his mind.
"we'll see," he said. "we have a date next week. beach resort. i'll let you know how it goes. i hope your adventures turn out better as well. maybe aim for less bodily harm on your next one, yeah?"
the surgeon and his nurses collectively gasped at the sudden appearance. it was some sort of cranial surgery and they weren't even supposed to ... never mind.
J doubted if the hospital would even serve them after the fiasco, but he supposed he could always flash his eos card and batin could ... disappear. yea, that'd fix it.
it sounded good to batin as well. though there was the distinct click of echoing heels on the tiles behind them, they made it to the waiting room without incident.
batin surveyed the crowd of sniveling children with colds, elderly women with weak lungs, the homeless who had tried to crowd in to get out of the cold, and a handful of sulky teenagers trying to avoid everyone's gaze while they projected the facade of being too cool for an annual check up. the line twined out the door and was seemingly endless.
"i'm glad it's you and not me," he said to j cheerily.
batin had a shit-eating grin that was very reminiscent of shamees.
