This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

J's only explanation for his healing factor not even working on a simple flesh wound was probably the fact that it was already working overtime trying to repair his spine and nervous system. probably. he didn't have any other explanation for it.
he hobbled away from batin, finding himself able to walk despite the pain. he didn't need a second shamees in his life. one in his dreams (albeit one that appeared only when thalia was around) was quite enough.
"screw this," he said, "i'm dragging myself to the pokémon center."
"yeah," said J. he wasn't aware that it was called a healing factor, but recovering quickly from scrapes and the like was always nice. "small scrapes heal faster. i guess bullet wounds are difficult to heal."
honestly, J didn't know where to begin. it all seemed very difficult to explain to someone, even if that someone had a scourge lucario as a partner pokémon.
J wasn't sure if he didn't like the terms. he distinctly remembered being willing to serve back then, and it wasn't that he was against the act of killing someone else, but he did draw the line at having to take thalia's life. (he did knock her out at a later point, though.)
"it just awoke in me," said J, "felt like it had been dormant for a long time."
