This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

Dan picked them up, giving them a quick peek. He and lucky didn't usually get along, especially not as of late. Maybe today would be the break from misfortune he needed.
"Good luck!" he responded, smiling at Verte.
iRHSBf6V <10, amazing hand. 11 to 25, solid hand. 26 to 75, standard hand. 76 to 100, atrocious pile of mismatches.
He wasn't sure what half of these numbers meant, but at least two of them matched!
HOFO4SVA verte grinned. two of a kind, she could work with. she watched as a few others around the table folded, and with a poker face that she'd honed for a while now she slid a small stack of tens into the center.
after a pause to allow others to decide if they wished to fold or bet, the dealer gestured for those who'd stayed in to show their hand.
1-25 dan wins 26-50 verte wins 51-75 neither of them win 76-100 both of them win (bc two of the same hand)
qdxv|wf9 >90, the other player who wins does so with a comically great hand.
A three-pair of Kings let Dan know he wasn't winning this hand. He shrugged, revealing his pair of eights. Not the best hand around, but it could've been serviceable.
"So, how long have you been here for?"
<10 amazing hand, 11 to 25 solid hand, 25 to 75 standard hand, 76 to 100 trainwreck.
"in the casino? a few hours at most, probably." her hand is a pair of jacks, but a triple king definately trumps that. she relinquishes her chips to the winner with a sigh, before turning to her only known company.
"The casino. Been in Neiro for about a day now. How about you?"
They did sound pretty interesting. Maybe he'd take some time for himself later today, enjoy a few diversions before taking the inevitable plunge into Bacchus City.
Time for another hand of poker first, though. Here's hoping it was a good one.
"Not sure." He tossed a few chips on the table, getting a bit more confident. "I'm going to have to get through Bacchus and Pax sooner or later. I might as well start making my way there as soon as possible, simply to get to another safe zone as soon as possible.
Still, considering that staying in Scourge territory overnight would be suicide, I'll probably be around here for a while."
"mmm. that's probably the smartest thing to do." it's always best to deal with the devil you know before taking on the entirety of hell itself. "well, there's a lot of things that you can see before you go. nerio is... a fun place, to say the least."
a thief's den, she doesn't say, but the newcomers will learn with time.
"yeah. that's essential to survival." a few guys from the next table over give them looks, but verte doesn't look back. they may be from a local ring around here, but if you don't make a mess they don't bother you. much.
"nah, i come from sol. i'm just taking my time getting back." 'because i hate my stuck-up family who only care about looks and social circles,' she doesn't say.
uFrdhFlG <50 guys at other tables come and bother them.... for some reason? idek
"Huh, you're from Sol too?" He hadn't seen Verte around before, or at least he doesn't remember having seen her. But then again, Sol City became one of the most densely packed cities in Kohaku shortly after Dan and his family arrived. She would've probably just been another face in the crowd, wouldn't she?
"my whole life. you could say my family is old blood." it's a better way than saying that her family is an old noble family. it's not a fact that verte advertises. "you?" Crash
"About a year and a few months now. We moved in from Humilau with some . . . let's just say terrible timing."
Old blooded family, huh? Made sense that he wasn't sure who they were, considering how new he was. Still, maybe his family had encountered hers before.
