This world is inhabited by creatures that we call pokemon. People and pokemon live together by supporting each other, but now the scourge threatens the safety of the entire region. Kohaku has become a dangerous place, where children stay at home and only brave souls go adventuring.
Welcome to KOHAKU. Come for the nightmares. Stay for the tea and crumpets.
The season is SUMMER. It is easy for survivors to forage for food from the land, as there are entire abandoned farms ready for harvest. On the downside, you can smell the corpses.

"pretty much. nerio is known as the thief's city. not sure if all of them are this dense, though."
she returns the salamence and the braviary, but keeps the gardevoir out. you never know when a psychic-type could come in handy, after all. "you ever been the target of a mugging before?"
"Not from what I can remember. Humilau was a really small town and pretty much everyone knew each other. Crimes were pretty rare.
There was one time, when I was off getting supplies for my parents. Someone ambushed me in the Seaside Cave and grabbed everything. I was just a kid, so I couldn't really fight back.
Guess things'd go way differently these days, though." He grinned a little.
"Was never really much for training Pokemon, honestly. I mean, it looked incredibly fun, but I was never sure if I'd be good at it . . .
My parents had a lot of Pokemon at the house, though. Including Ambrose's mom, who defended the newborns with an iron claw. Trust me, she was NOT somebody to mess with."
He remembered one time a Sharpedo got a little too close to the nests. After all, it was hard to build fences on Humilau's floating buildings. That shark learned the meaning of fear a little too quickly.
verte doesn't know anything about breeding, nor about parent pokemon and newborns. that kind of thing was usually for her cousins. "sounds like it. has she been with your family for long?"
"it was a pidgey, actually. i managed to train it up to a pidgeot before he retired. he was a good pokemon, though. he ended up as an instructional pokemon for the family."
she shrugs. wow, verte's doing a lot of talking today, and less moving. that's impressive. although that's probably the fact that she's bone-tired right now. "yeah, ever since my great-grandfather's time, last time i checked. yours? have you been breeding long?"
"From what I recall, they only started with my parents. My father wanted to take on the League, but his body just wasn't cut out for the stresses of a long journey. So he decided to settle down and become a breeder instead."
He kind of wondered about how his father reacted to him going on an adventure, one that the man never could. Was he worried? Or was he just happy his son would get to experience what he never could?
". . . Tired. The years have been busy, and hard on him and my mother. It's part of why we moved here, really. I figured that the Dream World would be a place for them to relax and get away from all of the stress. Ease their burdens a bit.
"the last time i checked. my father's busy with the business that he's put up, and my mother's always off doing her own thing, but their health isn't flagging or anything."
